He initially wanted to pursue painting as a full-time career. He became a full time graphic designer and art director instead so that he could he could earn a living and become successful enough to afford painting. However he never quite got there. Instead he combine his interests in painting and his existing skill in art direction by painting his projects himself, instead of assigning and directing someone else to do so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/image2.commarts.com\/images1\/6\/6\/9\/96679_0_992_MTkwODQ1NDgzNjY0MTY3NjAx.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>He worked alone after working with large design agencies, and painted numerous covers for &#8220;Time&#8221; magazine. In my opinion, his work is very clean and  play to a specific style. I would describe his work as <em>&#8220;flat, with dimension.&#8221;<\/em> The quality of his work reminds me of Renee Magritte&#8217;s work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.historygraphicdesign.com\/images\/004\/P5.jpg\" alt=\"Richard Hess\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Richard Hess was an America painter, art director, graphic designer, and illustrator.
