{"id":66,"date":"2018-09-23T21:50:13","date_gmt":"2018-09-24T04:50:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/abigailaries\/?p=66"},"modified":"2018-09-29T18:35:13","modified_gmt":"2018-09-30T01:35:13","slug":"jean-fouquet-1420-1480","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/abigailaries\/2018\/09\/23\/jean-fouquet-1420-1480\/","title":{"rendered":"Jean Fouquet 1420-1480"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Late Gothic &amp; Early Renaissance:<br \/>\nJean Fouquet 1420-1480<\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Jean Fouquet was a French painter from the 15th century, also bearing the official title of \u201cRoyal painter,\u201d after designing after designing the Royal King\u2019s tomb in 1474. Fouquet\u2019s paintings were greatly influenced by the techniques used in Italian Renaissance art. It was him who had brought these techniques into French paintings.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Out of the artists of this era, I find Jean Fouquet&#8217;s paintings to be quite intriguing. This is because of his choice in using very deep primary and secondary colors. This shows true in his works of art such as, &#8220;<em>Madonna and Child. Left Panel of Diptych de Melun&#8221; and &#8220;Cases of Noble Men and Women.&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>I especially admire his painting, &#8220;<em>Madonna and Child. Left Panel of Diptych de Melun&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0<\/em>because of the dramatic contrast between the subjects against the background. Also because of the natural flow and direction of the composition. I&#8217;m first drawn to her crown and detail of her face, along to her breast and then to the son. After naturally scanning through the subjects, my eyes are then drawn to the details of the faces in the background and to the throne.
