{"id":1224,"date":"2018-03-15T12:55:06","date_gmt":"2018-03-15T19:55:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/amahood\/?p=1224"},"modified":"2018-03-15T12:55:06","modified_gmt":"2018-03-15T19:55:06","slug":"riffs-on-e-lit-a-new-podcast-from-wonderbox","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/amahood\/2018\/03\/15\/riffs-on-e-lit-a-new-podcast-from-wonderbox\/","title":{"rendered":"Riffs on E-Lit: A New Podcast from Wonderbox"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was excited to spot last week that <a href=\"http:\/\/lyleskains.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lyle Skains<\/a> and<a href=\"https:\/\/jordanglendenning.wordpress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Jordan Glendinning<\/a> of <a href=\"http:\/\/wonderboxpublishing.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wonderbox<\/a> have launched a podcast on digital fiction.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/podcast.wonderboxpublishing.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wonderbox Podcast<\/a> (available on iTunes,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.stitcher.com\/s?fid=176052&amp;refid=stpr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stitcher<\/a>, and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/wonderbox.podbean.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Podbean<\/a>) will be a twice-monthly discussion with Skains and Glendinning delving into &#8220;the wondrous world of digital fiction&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/amahood\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2018\/03\/WBlogo2_lg.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1234 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/amahood\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2018\/03\/WBlogo2_lg-276x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"276\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/amahood\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2018\/03\/WBlogo2_lg-276x300.png 276w, https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/amahood\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2018\/03\/WBlogo2_lg.png 562w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 276px) 100vw, 276px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you are new to digital fiction, they suggest (and I do too) taking look at Bell et al&#8217;s &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.electronicbookreview.com\/thread\/electropoetics\/DFINative\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Screed for Digital fiction&#8221;<\/a>\u00a0(2010),\u00a0 published on the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.electronicbookreview.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><i>Electronic Book Review<\/i><\/a>, which defines e-lit as &#8220;fiction written for and read on a computer screen that pursues its verbal, discursive and\/or conceptual complexity through the digital medium, and would lose something of its aesthetic and semiotic function if it were removed from that medium\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>According to Skains, the first few episodes of the podcast look at the digital fiction you\u2019re already reading (even if you\u2019re not really aware of it), interactive fiction and text adventure games, hypertexts, digital archiving, writing digital fiction, transmedia fiction, locative fiction, and the overlap of literature and games.
