{"id":1324,"date":"2018-04-27T15:30:59","date_gmt":"2018-04-27T22:30:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/amahood\/?p=1324"},"modified":"2018-04-27T15:32:43","modified_gmt":"2018-04-27T22:32:43","slug":"looking-back-looking-ahead","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/amahood\/2018\/04\/27\/looking-back-looking-ahead\/","title":{"rendered":"Looking Back, Looking Ahead"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/amahood.opened.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">English 335: Electronic Literature<\/a> is not a course that I get to teach every year, and so it was with some sadness that I walked out of our classroom on the last day of classes earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>Today however I discovered\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.devolverdigital.com\/games\/view\/reigns-her-majesty\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Reigns: Her Majesty<\/em><\/a> thanks to Rhizome News and Celine Katzman&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/rhizome.org\/editorial\/2018\/apr\/24\/reigns-her-majesty-an-exercise-in-strategy-female-ambition-and-the-long-game\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">piece<\/a> on Leigh Alexander&#8217;s new swipe-based iOS game posted on the Rhizome <a href=\"http:\/\/rhizome.org\/editorial\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">blog<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/rhizome.org\/static-media\/blog\/eeb29e5c-5bdc-472d-a4f6-5205336d138e.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When I next have the opportunity to teach this course, or a course with an e-lit unit, I will surely have to consider adding this piece into the mix.<\/p>\n<p>According to Katzman, &#8220;<em>Reigns: Her Majesty<\/em> complicates that straightforward idea of power by introducing and focusing on two other practices that have historically empowered women: witchcraft and the pursuit of self-knowledge&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>According to Environment Canada, the rain is poised to return this weekend.
