I tried to make the zine had a home-made, arts and crafts feeling, while also reflecting common elements of Piet Zwart’s work. I did this by using the most common elements like bold primary colours, which I featured throughout the zine, and asymmetrical diagonal lines. I used cut out pieces of coloured paper and hand done lettering to achieve a crafty feeling. I did all of the lettering and typography by hand, however for the actual titles and examples I tried to be much more exact. I included the portrait and list of his commonly used techniques to evoke more of a zine-y feel. I think it’s important to remember zine’s are made to look fun. I think while I really liked the concept I had, the execution could have been a little cleaner. I would give myself a 7.5 out of 10 for this assignment. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
For this assignment I really wanted to mimic the design style of the time period and person I had researched while also keeping it feeling like a zine.
