The bits are what add depth to a simple white space. Without them, there would be nothing interesting to take in.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The narrative of the piece, that feeling of curiosity and childlike innocence, relies on them. The look provides a sense of nostalgia, reminiscent of patterns in bowling allies or bus seats. There isn\u2019t a clear rhyme or reason to the placement, but they provoke a playfulness in the viewer that makes them feel like they\u2019re looking back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The form is demonstrated through the highlights and shadows. Rendering these shapes allows them to pop. Had they been flat-colour, they would have stuck to the blankness of the background. Shading such smooth shapes adds another layer to the \u201cnostalgic\u201d aesthetic.
