Zoom is a cloud-based service for Meetings and Webinars. Zoom is for audio and video conferencing, content sharing, screen-sharing, and other collaborative capabilities.

Logging in the first time

All students will have a licensed CapU Zoom account:

  • Navigate to capu.ca/zoom where you will select “Sign in” and then login with your Capilano University username and password. Note: In most cases, CapU single-sign-on (SSO) will have logged you in automatically.
  • If you already have a personal Zoom account using your CapilanoU email address, you may be prompted to select “switch accounts”. This takes a few minutes and you will receive an email confirmation once the switch has completed.

Meetings:

  • Join an instant meeting through an email invite, an instant messaging invite, from the browser, from the Zoom desktop and mobile application.
  • Ideal for collaborative sessions, internal and external meetings, and project coordination.
  • Breakout rooms are sessions that are split off from the main Zoom meeting. They allow the participants to meet in smaller groups, and are completely isolated in terms of audio and video from the main session.
  • The host and attendees can all share their audio and video in order to hold conversations.
  • Attendees can share their screen, files, whiteboard and applications just as the host can.
  • The host can quickly start a meeting using their personal room.
