Why Vogue<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

I chose to do a Vogue cover as my historical artifact because I\u2019ve always liked how magazine covers look. At first, I was considering doing a magazine cover for Harper\u2019s Bazaar, since it\u2019s the one we\u2019ve looked at in class. However, the amount of information on Vogue was significantly larger, and thus, easier to cover and write about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The process<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Luckily for me, Vogue has a website dedicated to archiving every monthly issue they\u2019ve ever released. From there, I chose the cover I liked most and began to recreate it using gouache paint. The one I chose is from June 1935. At the time, magazines cost 35 cents in the US. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I really like how the artifact itself turned out. The colors are nice and I think the use of gouache really helped with making it look authentic. However, the museum card isn\u2019t of great quality, since I kept it very simple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
