The Wood Wide Web

“The Wood Wide Web” by Ed Yong is an article that acknowledges a team of scientists who studied the “exchange [of] large amounts of carbon via the fungal internet that connects”(Yong) the roots of different trees. One of the scientists, Tamir Klein, states that “[the team doesn’t] think there is any intention of a tree to help its neighbor”(Yong). In other words, the conclusion of the study is simply that “a very mixed forest is much more connected than [previously] thought”(Yong). There is no further explanation to the interconnection of the trees.
