What is care? ”Draft”

What gets in the way of care? To me ”care” means to do something nice for someone else without expecting anything in return.  It could be anything, as long as you are thinking of the person and what it is that they like. I think by showing a person how thoughtfully you have put together something just for them shows, you have taken the time to really listen to and internalize everything they have shared with you.  I’m a big believer of doing thoughtful things for others without them expecting it, and also for me not to expect something in return. Surprises are always the best and they mean more to the receiver because it was done with them ever suspecting a thing. Writing a letter or card to someone letting them know how much you appreciate them just for being them is one way to express it. Telling your significant other that they don’t have to take care of the kids, house work, or whatever and  just to rest is a nice jester too. Whatever the person has told you in conversations about their likes and dislikes you really can’t go wrong, and that you have understood what they were saying has a lasting effect on people. When someone wants to show another person how they should be treated with respect and kindness it is really easy to put together something special just for them. The best way to care for someone is to have an open and honest conversation with them about what you both like and don’t like. Making a person feel important and valued is not a hard thing to do, after all having a meaningful relationship with someone weather, at work or in your personal life and truly listen to them is the first step. Having the opportunity to help someone out whenever they need it or if it is because you are able to help them out with whatever they need help with is a true act of kindness. Also when I think about “What gets in the way of Care,” I think of everything that could go wrong does go wrong, maybe its just me and my lack of a lucky streak . But I’ve learned not to plan things to far in advance because sometimes things happen unexpectedly.  There is no way to tell if something is going to go wrong after all the time, and effort you put into getting everything done, and all the planning that went into whatever it is you have planned for that special person in your life. There are many different that could go unexpectedly wrong,  always keep that in mind when planning anything. No matter how well you think you’ve planned something and made sure nothing could get in the way, something not always but sometimes something happens. I know from past experiences that the people I have surprised with random gestures of kindness, even in the smallest way have been very moved by gifts. I love seeing the reactions from my friends or family when I give them something, or I have written them something,  to me that’s what makes it so worth all the thought and planning I did for that person. When I think of what I want to give a person I try to make it as personal as I can, because I want them to know I care about them. Also when I think of care I think how it means to look after a person or animals physical, mental, and nutritional needs. If a person is a parent of a human child or a “fur” child as some animal people call their pets (myself included) we have a responsibility to look after all their needs. Vet bills, food, shelter, warmth, everything its our responsibility to make sure we can provide everything they need for a long and healthy life.
