The Beachcombers Actor “Jesse Jim”
Patrick Charles John also known as “Jesse Jim”, was born in Vancouver, British Columbia on March 17th, 1953, and he passed away on July 13th, 2022. He starred on the Candian television show called The Beachcombers which was filmed in Gibson’s, British Columbia. The Beachcombers was a Canadian Comedy-Drama that ran on CBC television from October 1, 1972, to December 12, 1990. The Beachcombers was one of the longest-running Canadian Drama series ever filmed and was only surpassed by Degrassi 10 years ago. The television show has 19 seasons, and 387 Episodes. He had passed away just 3 months before the 50th anniversary of The Beachcombers, at the age of 69.
Pat is a member of the Shishalh Nation and grew up here in Sechelt. He attended the St Augustine’s Residential School in Sechelt, which closed in 1975. When he turned 16, he left the Residential School to work at a local sawmill. In 1971 he was recommended to audition for the show, and half a year later he was hired.
Pat John is my great uncle, and I grew up around him. He was always so kind and loving, with an awesome sense of humor. Despite everything he went through in life, he walked softly and was a nice person. I miss him dearly, but I am happy knowing that he is at peace.
