Autobiography

I would like to start by saying that I am a contemplative person, I enjoy observing what is happening in front of me. Also, I can tell you many things I like, never the one I like the most. That is essentially me; I try to be open.

Capilano University caught my attention when looking for an international experience because of their programs regarding the artistic sector. In addition, I have seen how the atmosphere of any university is affected in a positive way by nature. It was fascinating to find a university surrounded by a forest that provides these kinds of programs; it was a congruent choice in relation to my personal taste.

I am very attracted to art in general. My love for art comes from the depth of the discipline; the learning process never ends. However, music was my selected field, so I have been spending the last years studying music; and I got more into piano composition. Recently, I released a piano song with violin accompaniment called “Cathedral”. I also taught piano lessons for beginners for about a year which was very enriching. Also, I like social events if they are carried out with a purpose, I believe these can be very meaningful in people’s life. A social event has the power to unify people. Hence, I found Arts and Entertainment Management program very suitable for my major preferences because it perfectly combines the essence of art (unity and sincerity) with the opportunity to create great social events.

In addition, in these early years of my youth, I am expecting to learn some valuable things. Firstly, I am looking towards becoming able to communicate myself clearly both verbally and on paper, I think this is a skill necessary in any professional pathway anyone could take. Secondly, I am also interested in learning how to work in team, harmoniously and effectively. Throughout the years I have confirmed in many situations that: TWO HEADS WORK BETTER THAN ONE, therefore, networking and finding people with whom I match could be determinant to achieve success in future projects.

In my short journey I have learned that we never know where we are going to be in some years, especially with such a changing world. That is why I try to give myself the opportunity to experience new situations so I can learn from them and then be prepared for the future ones. Currently, I am interested in working alongside the non-profit sector; their purposes and objectives resonate with me and my values in a deep way.

Finally, I will talk a bit about my current interests. The first one is hiking, I love this activity because through the activity of walking, it’s easier for me to achieve conclusions of any kind, then, playing the piano which allows me to be introspective. After that, socializing and sharing time with other people. Last, but certainly not least, I practice meditation every day to lighten up my life and I also like to read to keep my brain on track.

In brief, I believe that this program alongside this university is a fantastic fit for me not only because of the curricula that I will be studying but also because of the environment which will allow a great development of my academic self as well as others dimensions in my person
