{"id":249,"date":"2022-04-12T07:18:30","date_gmt":"2022-04-12T07:18:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/emilymcalpine\/?p=249"},"modified":"2022-04-12T07:18:30","modified_gmt":"2022-04-12T07:18:30","slug":"the-designer-who-changed-cinema-saul-bass","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/emilymcalpine\/2022\/04\/12\/the-designer-who-changed-cinema-saul-bass\/","title":{"rendered":"The Designer who Changed Cinema: Saul Bass"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Saul Bass is an incredibly renowned graphic designer and filmmaker across the globe.\u00a0Bass\u2019s work was also one of the very first graphic designers I was ever introduced to, and I instantly fell in love with his style.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">His style was initially inspired by Rand, Russian Constructivist typography, Bauhaus design theory, along with other New York School designers. However, Bass takes a massive design leap and creates a new graphic style. His style of design is easily recognizable with his\u00a0use of color, typography, and negative space which corresponds with his clear ideas and bold symbols.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>&#8220;I want to make beautiful things,\u201d \u201cEven if nobody cares. That\u2019s my input&#8221;<\/p><cite>Saul Bass<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">One of my favorite posters by him is the poster for \u201cSuch Good Friends\u201d. This poster is so simplified with how it\u2019s put together, yet clearly shows 2 women\u2019s legs.
