{"id":59,"date":"2020-01-12T19:56:31","date_gmt":"2020-01-12T19:56:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/haileyurbanoski\/?page_id=59"},"modified":"2020-06-27T16:29:07","modified_gmt":"2020-06-27T16:29:07","slug":"wardrobe-technician-at-banff-centre","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/haileyurbanoski\/wardrobe-technician-at-banff-centre\/","title":{"rendered":"Wardrobe Technician Practicum at Banff Centre"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In the summer of 2019, I worked as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.banffcentre.ca\/programs\/wardrobe-technician-practicum\/20200504\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Wardrobe Technician Practicum<\/a> at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. This three month program is about observing and participating in the creative production process from interpretive design concept through\u00a0creative development to realization in Theatre. This program includes the analysis of all areas of the production schedule with emphasis on the importance of your role as an effective member of this collaborative process.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&#8220;Silent Light&#8221;:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I worked as a stitcher for multiple characters, a Cutter for the character <em>Esther<\/em>, and Dresser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;Silent Light is a&nbsp;<strong>new Opera<\/strong>&nbsp;based on the film Stellet Licht by Carlos Reygadas.Set within a&nbsp;<strong>Mennonite community in northern Mexico<\/strong>, the opera follows a pious husband and father, Johan, who\u2019s strongly held spiritual obligation to his marriage, family, and community is put to the test when he falls in love with another woman from his faith. &nbsp;&nbsp;Silent Light provides a<strong>&nbsp;glimpse of a society that is often misunderstood<\/strong>&nbsp;and simplified by people outside of the faith and lifestyle, presenting commonalities of human experience. &#8220;<\/em> &#8211; Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/haileyurbanoski\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9886\/2020\/01\/IMG_2794-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-65\" srcset=\"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/haileyurbanoski\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9886\/2020\/01\/IMG_2794-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/haileyurbanoski\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9886\/2020\/01\/IMG_2794-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/haileyurbanoski\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9886\/2020\/01\/IMG_2794-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/haileyurbanoski\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9886\/2020\/01\/IMG_2794-1536x1024.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><figcaption>Silent Light<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I created Esters funeral dress for the end of act 2. Made of a thin gauze like fabric with a lace insert at the neckline.  The dress was cut with kimono sleeves and a square insert at the neckline with soft gathers. The two ensembles i completed consisted of a body suit with built in circle skirts of tulle, binding and nude insert. The audience will follow a murder mystery in the woods, but won\u2019t find out who the murderer is. That\u2019s part of the fun, and why we are presenting this as a workshop performance free for the public.<\/em> <em>Once you choose which character to follow, you will begin an interactive experience that takes you into the complex and intimate world of the Marshalls.
