This is all thanks to the decades of technology and artistic progress in the world of cinema dating back to the late 19th century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/hannahbontinen\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11631\/2020\/11\/2552EAB2-007D-4A7B-872A-5CD9CFC0E5A3.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-198\" width=\"602\" height=\"396\" \/><figcaption>Victorian Magic Lantern Show<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Chronophotography<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Before this period, entertainment mostly consisted of literature, visual arts, plays, dance, and music. The development of chronophotography is what sparked the beginning of cinema.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/hannahbontinen\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11631\/2020\/10\/1B7B80BE-75EA-4AB1-AA08-9A2E7A5AB0F0.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-189\" width=\"599\" height=\"401\" \/><figcaption>Race Horse First Film Ever 1878 Eadweard Muybridge<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This antique photographic technique of the Victorian era allowed the movement to be captured in several frames of print. Eadward Muybridge started using this to study the motion of animals and humans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Lumi\u00e8re Brothers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Lumi\u00e8re brothers are famous for their motion picture film \u2018Arrival of a Train at Ciotat Station\u2019. While he was trying to photograph the Place de l\u2019Op\u00e9ra\u00a0his camera kept jamming. Once he finally was able to unblock the film he saw how the jam made it so a Madeleine-Bastille bus change into a hearse and men change into women. M\u00e9li\u00e8s realized he could use this trick intentionally and created \u2018Escamotage d\u2019Une Dame au Th\u00e8\u00e2tre Robert Houdin (The Vanishing Lady)\u2019\u00a0in October 1896.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/hannahbontinen\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11631\/2020\/11\/CourteousAmusingAzurewingedmagpie-max-14mb.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-199\" width=\"486\" height=\"373\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1897<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>1897 was a big year for evolving the world of cinema. Robert William Paul\u00a0developed the first rotating camera, which was able to take panning shots.\u00a0This was a way to now establishing a sense of location in films and engage the audience.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0In May 1897 Georges M\u00e9li\u00e8s\u00a0built one of the first film studios. Robert William Paul donated some of his films to the British Museum. He hoped they would begin acquiring other reproductions of notable events in the form of moving pictures but no other donation was ever made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The American Visionary<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In the Early 20th century cinema started to advance at a fast rate, especially in the US. Edwin S. Porter was an American filmmaker that&#8217;s credited as being the first to assemble separate individual shots into a continuous sequence of parallel actions. In 1903, he made the film \u2018The Life of an American Fireman\u2019. he was able to combine stock footage of horse-drawn fire engines leaving a fire station house with staged sequences of firemen saving a woman from a burning house and compress it into a six-minute film that created the illusion of linear continuity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/hannahbontinen\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11631\/2020\/11\/LifeOfAnAmericanFiremanqq01_12_56qq00013.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-202\" width=\"620\" height=\"465\" srcset=\"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/hannahbontinen\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11631\/2020\/11\/LifeOfAnAmericanFiremanqq01_12_56qq00013.jpg 640w, https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/hannahbontinen\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11631\/2020\/11\/LifeOfAnAmericanFiremanqq01_12_56qq00013-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr. Porter went on to create over 50 movies such as the masterpiece &#8216;The Great Train Robbery\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>This period was revolutionary in advancing technology and creating the first films.
