He was known for developing the beautifully abstract technique called pointillism with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/biography\/Georges-Seurat\">Georges Seurat<\/a>. When he was 18 he decided to give up architecture and study painting, specifically the colourist principles of Impressionism. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"704\" height=\"534\" src=\"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/hannahbontinen\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11631\/2020\/11\/breakfast-the-dining-room.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-211\" srcset=\"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/hannahbontinen\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11631\/2020\/11\/breakfast-the-dining-room.jpg 704w, https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/hannahbontinen\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11631\/2020\/11\/breakfast-the-dining-room-300x228.jpg 300w, https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/hannahbontinen\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11631\/2020\/11\/breakfast-the-dining-room-688x522.jpg 688w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 704px) 100vw, 704px\" \/><figcaption><em>The Dining Room 1887<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This oil painting  &#8220;The Dining Room&#8221; depicts Paul Signac&#8217;s mother, grandfather and the housemaid sitting still with no expression. Against the Enamel of a Background Rhythmic with Beats and Angles, Tones, and Tints, Portrait of M. F\u00e9lix F\u00e9n\u00e9on in 1890<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Signac created this piece to honour his friend F\u00e9lix F\u00e9n\u00e9on who was an influential art critic among many things. This piece was created in antibes using oil as a watercolour.
