Stanley George Miller most well known as Stanley Mouse was one of the many psychedelic design hero\u2019s of the 70\u2019s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stanley was born on October 10, 1940 and grew up in Detroit, Michigan. He was always fascinated by art and cartoons in-behalf of his father who was an animator for Disney.

The hippie movement that began in the 60\u2019s inspired most of the art in that period. Music and design went hand in hand to spread the message of \u201cmake love not war\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mouse is responsible for creating numerous iconic images for musical artists such as Janis Joplin, Steve Miller, Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, Grateful Dead and the Beatles.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His style often combined inspiration from art nouveau with a psychedelic spin. Stanley Mouse would often go through books on poster art in the San Francisco library. One day he came across the skeleton design above and instantly thought of the Grateful Dead.

Funny enough at my current job we sell Grateful Shred hoodies that are based on Stanley Mouse\u2019s iconic design. This goes to show that his work has a lasting influence on other artists today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
