{"id":53,"date":"2020-09-19T22:35:21","date_gmt":"2020-09-19T22:35:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/hannahbontinen\/?p=53"},"modified":"2020-09-19T23:04:13","modified_gmt":"2020-09-19T23:04:13","slug":"design-elements","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/hannahbontinen\/2020\/09\/19\/design-elements\/","title":{"rendered":"Design Elements"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Design elements are the fundamentals or \u201cbuilding blocks\u201d to all designs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In class we learned about the 7 main elements: line, directions, shape, size, colour, space, and texture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For this blog, we were challenged to choose at least three of the seven design elements we learned about in class and find an image that relies on that element. Pepper\u2019s <\/em>was designed by artists <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Peter_Blake_(artist)\">Peter Blake<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jannhaworth.com\/\">Jann Haworth<\/a>. Behind the lavender photo, taken by photographer Greg Gorman, you can see the three discs that celebrate Bowie at various stages in his career.<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Space<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Positive space is the area an element takes up while negative space is the empty areas. The concept of the design was inspired by an image of a prism found in a photography book. The celestial effect you can see behind the text of this cover came about when the artist was experimenting with a photographic etching technique and putting prints into acid baths.
