Greetings!
My name is Harmanpreet Singh Brar, and I am 19 years old. I hail from village Bhalaiana in Punjab, India. I graduated from St. Xavier’s School in Bathinda and am currently enrolled at Capilano University in Vancouver to pursue a Business Administration diploma. In August, I arrived in Canada to take up my higher studies.
Prior to immigrating to Canada, I assisted my parents and grandparents in their farming operations. My family has a long history in agriculture. My aunt, a teacher, and two of my uncles—a former doctor who is now a businessman and a teacher—make up our extended family of nine.
If we were to discuss my personality, my friends and family would say that I am sociable and strive to make as many new acquaintances as I can. I have a positive outlook and try to assist many people. Whenever I see an opportunity to aid someone, I seize it. Especially, I have previously supported a great deal of children and elderly in need. There are times and places where I may come across as introverted, but I am working on changing that, so I do not miss out on any significant opportunities.
Volleyball, listening to music, and hanging out with loved ones are a few of my pastimes. While I was a child, my interests would fluctuate from time to time, but now that I am an adult with definite goals—I want to be a businessman which is why I chose the business administration diploma to improve my foundational knowledge in the various fields. The reputation of Capilano University in Canada and the recommendation of some of our mutual friends who have graduated from this institution are two factors in my decision. Capilano encourages me to pursue another ambition of mine, which is to establish a school, for providing the quality education to students who cannot afford it.
Although both urban and rural life are great in their own unique ways, I prefer to live in rural areas since it is where I am from and because it has many advantages of its own, such as being pollution-free and allowing residents to enjoy a tidy and clean environment. Most people relocate to cities for a variety of reasons, but I intend to stay in my town because I want to take care of my parents.
Since I was in school, I took part in a variety of sports, one of which was long jump. It used to be my favorite sport, and I won medals while playing it. I quit competing in long jump after graduating, choosing instead to focus on volleyball, which I had been playing since I was a young child. Even still, if the opportunity ever arises, I would like to try long jump again. Since my childhood, I was more into sports than studies but eventually I started to manage both aspects of life equally.
Finally, I would like to state that I will work hard for as long as it takes to achieve my goals and lead the life I desire in order to make my family proud.
Sincerely,
Harmanpreet Singh Brar
