Dave McKean is an English illustrator, photographer, comic book artist, graphic designer, filmmaker and musician. His work incorporates drawing, painting, photography, collage, found objects, digital art and sculpture.
He was born in Taplow, Berkshire on 1963. He attended Berkshire College of Art and Design from 1982-1986 and, before leaving, started working as an illustrator.
●He is a director and writer for N[eon] (2002), Mirrormask (2005) and Luna (2014).
●McKean designed the posters for the Raindance Film Festival for five consecutive years between 1996–2000.
●McKean has collaborated with Neil Gaiman on children’s picture books, The Wolves in the Walls (2003), Crazy Hair (2009), etc.
●In 2008, McKean collaborated with Heston Blumenthal on The Fat Duck Cookbook. The book was nominated in the “James Beard Foundation Awards” and won the Photography/Illustration award.
Dave is currently finishing a book of paintings and drawings inspired by silent cinema (Nitrate), more travel sketchbooks (Venice, Prague and Naples) and a new graphic novel (Caligaro).
~Impressions~ I thought it was wonderful that he is active not only in illustrations also in various fields. His works is very characteristic touch but stylish and beautiful so I like his illustrations.
