First his mother died when he was only seven years old. Following that, he witnessed his brother drown from falling into an iced over lake, as well as two of his sisters who died of diseases. It is from these experiences that he associated a feeling of emptiness and somber into his art, often contemplating nature with it\u2019s uncertainties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/imogenpettyfer\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11730\/2020\/10\/Wanderer.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-119\" width=\"211\" height=\"263\" \/><figcaption>Wanderer above the Sea of Fog (1818)<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>One of Friedrich\u2019s most known paintings is&nbsp;<em>\u201cWanderer above the Sea of Fog\u201d<\/em>. The figure looks over the landscape from the heights of the mountains. The position of the figure is said that his heart is the center of the painting.&nbsp;<em>\u201cWanderer above the Sea of Fog\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;is renowned of being the quintessence of the Romanticism Movement. Throughout Europe, artists and writers began to find inspiration in nature, showing landscapes of their imaginations and emotions.
