Hello World

About Me

My name is Jad Riyabi, and I am currently a first year engineering student at Capilano University, where, after completing my diploma, I hope to transfer to UBC or Uvic to pursue a biomedical engineering degree. As well being a full time student I currently work as a intern in a cereal company called Nutritive.

Biomedical engineering for me is interesting, because it involves the application of engineering principles to the fields of biology and health care. I intend to be designing products that replace body parts, such as robotic arms, hearts, legs etc.

In addition to school and work, Basketball has been a passion of mine ever since I was in kindergarten. And volunteering to coach in basketball camps the Vancouver youth has been a incredible experience because it has taught how to work with children and allowed me to exercise my leadership skills.

I come from a Syrian background and being the first child of my immediate family has taught me a lot about being a role model. And coming from a immigrant family I aim to hopefully take care of my family after university. Also pursuing science and technology at the post secondary level is something I want young children in the Syrian community to look up to and pursue one day.
