Design itself was quite primitive at the time, which made a choice of topic difficult to select, so I settled on printing and printmaking. This decision was a result of the leaps and bounds made within the printing industry within this time period, as well as the geography across which it spread. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I struggled with the infographic format; I had only ever made one before and still weren&#8217;t entirely sure what they were. After extensive internet scouring for reference photos and infographic explanations, I started sketching. At the suggestion of Judy, I was inspired by old fancy globes, the ones that rest within large rolling contraptions, and sometimes open to reveal a chamber inside. While still staying faithful to the more modern infographic style, I placed a globe in the centre, with the bridge down the middle to provide a clear divide for the centre of the book, as to not cut the centre of the design in an uncomfortable place. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The globe allowed me to create points in which I could speak about the geography of printing and printmaking in a manner that lended itself to clarity. The colours of the countries were placed as to make them stand out, and the bubbles behind the text had the opposite effect; I wanted the eye to immediately be drawn to the countries, and then outwards towards the information. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For my self grade, I will give myself 9\/10, as I could have colour coded the outside text boxes to correlate them with the colours of the countries, as well as making the text a bit easier to read, as the scan made it difficult to see.
