{"id":1126,"date":"2019-03-13T10:59:30","date_gmt":"2019-03-13T17:59:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/joycechan4\/?p=1126"},"modified":"2021-05-24T05:11:13","modified_gmt":"2021-05-24T12:11:13","slug":"132-survey-9-chris-ware","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/joycechan4\/2019\/03\/13\/132-survey-9-chris-ware\/","title":{"rendered":"132 Survey 9: Chris Ware"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>1990-2000 New Forms<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/2yhr3j6imaw4e4zzg38k38ar-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/art21-ware-chris_0.jpg\" alt=\"Image result for chris ware face\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Chris Ware (1967-), birth name Franklin Christenson, is an American graphic novelist and illustrator most known for his illustration covers for <em>The<\/em> <em>New Yorker<\/em>, comics<em> Acme Novelty Library Series (1994) <\/em>and <em>Jimmy Corrigan, the Smartest Kid on Earth (2000). <\/em>Chris Ware is often praised among many fellow illustrators for his abilities to build compelling stories and to illustrate interesting, colourful panels in his comic books. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images.fineartamerica.com\/images\/artworkimages\/mediumlarge\/2\/looking-up-chris-ware.jpg\" alt=\"Image result for chris ware\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.theparisreview.org\/uploads\/6ddf9391d0\/Ware-Manuscript.jpg\" alt=\"Image result for chris ware\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>At a first glance, Chris Ware&#8217;s works also reminded me of illustrator Adrian Tomine&#8217;s illustration for <em>The New Yorker<\/em>. Similar to Adrian Tomine, Chris Ware is great at depicting quiet, everyday-life scenes. Both of their styles tend to be meticulous and realistic.
