What is Modern Serif Typeface?
There are many different types of serif typeface, and in this blog we are going to look at the modern serif typeface. It originated from France, and was popularized during the 18th century. Modern serif typeface that has the characteristics of high and abrupt contrast between thick and thin strokes, vertical axis, horizontal stress, and small aperture.


Didone
The name Didone, which is another way of calling modern style, comes from the combination of two famous Didone calligraphy styles, Didot and Bodoni.
The first modern typeface was believed to have been written by the Frenchman Filmin Didot. It was first printed in 1784. His type was followed by Giambattista Bodoni, an Italian print designer, He was influenced by the types of Romance du Roy, in their flat, parenthesis-free lines and John Baskerville’s high contrast style. He was greatly impressed and admired the styles.

Modern serif typeface can be usually found in fashion and luxury because of the expensive and elegant look. Modern serifs are used in fashion magazines, Harpers and Vogue is one of the representative fashion magazines that use modern serif typeface. This typeface can also be found in many luxury brands such as Cartier and Christian Dior.
