Capilano University (2021-2022)
The most prominent reason for me choosing the Capilano University is the respective course it offers that fulfills all my interests and making it the one and only university in Canada with a high reputation for 52 years and an amazing campus nestled in a lush forest and surrounded by the North Shore Mountains. The University’s reputation rests on its smaller class sizes of 25-35 students which provides for more personalized teaching and learning. In 2017, CapU received the Coup de Coeur Award from the Canadian Association of Communicators in Education (CACE) for the brand story, making it the only post-secondary institution in Canada to receive a BRAVO award from CACE that year. Capilano University would engage students in much more active learning through class participation, internships, training, conferences, industry exposure, and job opportunities on campus. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to pursue a respective course from Capilano University. The academic programs include co-op semesters which are highly beneficial for grabbing additional hands-on expertise. It has a safe, nurturing, and supportive study environment which is something very appealing to students like me.
This program covers a wide range of topics that would give me exposure to the process involved in Finance, marketing, international strategy & entrepreneurship, and finance & investment. NABU Applied is a very ideal course because the combination of skills set that I have developed by coordinating the events from the past 1 and half years and the practical knowledge in the course would prepare me to work like a boss in a broad array of business areas in domestic and international organizations of any size. It covers a breadth of fundamental business knowledge; expands on that base with a variety of more complex and strategic structures that have equal application in both international and domestic businesses, making this a true business management program. Also, this program is offered in an accelerated format and includes a 6- month practicum, that can open a gate for my entry to the big corporate world with lucrative pay packages. It will also ensure that there would be ample opportunities available for me to set up my business in the future. Also, the flexibility of choosing a course and the freedom to tailor my coursework based on my personal preferences give an added appeal to an international degree.
I am currently enrolled in my Third term (Fall 2021) and my coursework includes, Advance Communication for international learners, North American workplace preparation, North American business policy and strategy, Cross Border HR Management, and Leadership and Teams. Since I have a passion for the Finance Industry, I have decided to take relevant electives for the Summer 2021 term. These Finance courses were unavailable to me during my undergraduate studies. They are Personal Financial Planning and Insurance Financial Planning. As I already have experience in Finance & Taxation, I plan on building a career in it, this course will benefit me to learn new aspects and refresh my memory from my previous experiences.
