Hello, my name is Katelyn and this is my first year at Capilano Univerity. I am from Alberta and absolutely the outdoors! It is not uncommon for me to go on day hikes in the mountains during the summer months or white water rafting. I enjoy taking in nature’s beauty and I find it very tranquil. I am currently a 1st-year music diploma student but I have transfer credits from a previous institution. My goal is to complete the requirements to apply for a Bachelor of Music Therapy in the Spring. Although this means having a very busy year packed with 7 courses each semester, I am motivated to reach my goal. I had taken some time off from schooling for my own personal development. During, my time off I had some extreme adversity but these experiences are what have motivated me to pursue music therapy. As well, I spent a year in Australia which gave me the life experience that I needed. I found myself when I was in Australia, I found my home in Australia. I remember coming back to Australia from a 3 week trip across New Zealand and feeling internally relieved because I was going back home. I had never felt this before in Canada, so my future plans involve immigrating to Australia. It is interesting to have an English class based on migration because I realize that I have a personal connection to not feeling at home in the country I was born in. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n
