The mountain bike industry has a global worth of $5.6 billion in USD in 2021. There is an expected compound annual growth rate of 12% which would make this a $13.89 billion dollar industry by 2029. North America holds approximately 55% of the market and has developed many of modern bikes technology and trends.

The term mountain bike includes two wheeled bicycles intended for off-road use. Note that road bikes, commuter bikes, and other road intended bikes such as folding bikes are excluded from the mountain bike category.
