Hello! My name is Lauren Emery, and I’m a student here at Capilano University working to get my bachelor’s degree in Motion Picture Arts. I moved here in 2011 from a town in France called Uriage and have lived here in Coquitlam British Columbia since. I found my passion for filmmaking when I was in grade 11, thanks to my energetic and inspiring film teacher. In Spring 2022, one of my short films titled Not Alone was nominated for Best Thriller/Horror/Action Short in the BC Student film festival. Not long after, I was awarded top Media Arts student for the 2021-2022 school year at my high school. These achievements only gave me more motivation to pursue my interest in film, which is why I’m studying at Capilano University today.
