{"id":256,"date":"2022-03-18T16:14:23","date_gmt":"2022-03-18T16:14:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/laurenhoward\/?p=256"},"modified":"2022-03-18T16:14:23","modified_gmt":"2022-03-18T16:14:23","slug":"robert-venturi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/laurenhoward\/2022\/03\/18\/robert-venturi\/","title":{"rendered":"ROBERT VENTURI"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>\u201cLess is bore\u201d is a philosophy coined by the well know post-modernist architect Robert Venturi.&nbsp; Venturi is commonly referred to as the father of postmodern architecture from his strides to go against the grain of static block-like buildings and introduce eclectic forms and experimentation into the architecture of the 1960s. His ideas were solidified in his 1966 book; \u201cComplexity and Contradiction in architecture\u201d where he goes into his \u201cless is bore\u201d, which is acknowledged as a cornerstone for shaping a new generation of architects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So what does Venturi mean when he says \u201cless is bore\u201d Well, instead of molding to the conventional minimalist design that modernists followed at the time, Venturi decided to radicalize and implement unusual forms for buildings giving them more personality. Still being one of his most well-known projects, the blue house looks like a child\u2019s drawing of a house \u2013 representing the fundamental aspects of shelter\u201d, wrote Venturi in Architectural Record 1982.
