My yearbook spread!

For my yearbook spread, I chose to use pictures of me as a child. I often look back on memories of my childhood fondly, as I remember that time of my life to be my happiest. Not that I’m unhappy with my life now, but there’s an innocence and naiveté that we possessed in our youth that’s just lost as we grow older.

Although I was born in Hong Kong, I’ve been a Canadian citizen since birth through my parents. Funny enough, I needed to get a passport as a baby to come to Canada, and I remember still using the same passport with my baby photo up until I was 5 or 6 years old.

Initially, I was apprehensive to disclose how much older I am compared to the rest of the class, but I decided to do so for my “secret” fact. Making the decision to go back to university as an adult in his 30s, my biggest fear was that I wouldn’t fit in, and a part of me also felt embarrassed that I haven’t completely figured out my life by now. However, I try to remind myself of how fortunate I am to have lived multiple lives, from my time in NYC, to Melbourne, and London. I think of everything I’ve got to experience and that not a lot of people get to have that. Also, everyone’s ages are so varied in an actual work environment; I shouldn’t have to feel bad about it just because I’m in university.
