His artistic skill held equal to that of Leonardo da Vinci but unfortunately did not receive the same level of recognition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Perugino was one of the earliest Italian oil painters and was apprenticed (at the early age of nine) to the local artistic workshops of Perugia. He had been criticized by artists in Florence for his repetition and mannerisms of figures and at times whole figures in his work. Even Michelangelo had called him a lousy artist.&nbsp;But Peruginos response was as serene as his paintings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-default is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cThe figures you find so bad now you used to praise. What can I do about it?\u201d<\/p><cite>-Perugino<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;In 1481 he was summoned to Rome where, along with others, he worked on the frescos for the walls of the Sistine Chapel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cover alignwide has-background-dim is-position-center-center\" style=\"background-image:url(https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/macuevas\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11619\/2020\/10\/pietro-perugino-delivery-of-the-keys-1024x618.jpg)\"><div class=\"wp-block-cover__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-cover-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>The&nbsp;<em><strong>Delivery of the Keys<\/strong><\/em> or&nbsp;<em><strong>Christ Giving the Keys to St. Peter<\/strong><\/em>&nbsp;is a fresco by executed in 1481\u20131482 and located in the Sistine Chapel, Rome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Perugino tragically died of the plague in 1523.
