Director of Events at CAPUMA

CAPUMA is one of only three Canadian collegiate chapters of the American Marketing Association (AMA) since partnering with the AMA in 2016. We provide opportunities to unite students and industry professionals. Our association creates marketing related events that support the student’s knowledge, experience and skills to enhance their education.

Winter Social 2018

In Fall 2018 I had the opportunity to coordinate our biggest event of the year; the Winter Social. The purpose of the Annual Winter Social is to create opportunities to allow students across campus to network outside of their faculty. We ran several promotional and advertising campaigns on social media and on campus. At the 6th Annual Winter Social we focused our speaker series on two industry giants, Microsoft and YYoga as it was CAPUMA 10th anniversary and we had over 100 attendees.

They discussed the importance of branding in marketing campaigns and how it can help grow a company to success. This provided people with the opportunity to hear about valuable experiences, successes and insights into the industry.

The speaker series included:

-Carey Dillen, President of YYoga
-Shelley Staples, Client Executive Microsoft Canada.

I also helped designing the poster we used for our promotion.

BCAMA’s annual Marketer of the Year awards gala

I was invited to volunteered at the BCAMA’s annual Marketer of the Year awards gala in 2018. This event is one of the most anticipated industry events in British Columbia. A collection of individual awards celebrating marketing excellence in each of five different categories( Cause Marketing or Not-For-Profit Marketing, Social Storytelling or Influencer Marketing, Experiential Marketing, Marketing on a Shoestring and Traditional Media). The winner of each award was announced as part of the gala event.

Spring Social 2019

During 2019 I helped organizing our annual Spring Social where students had the opportunity to network with current and past CAPUMA teams, have food and drinks. This event was located at Rogue Kitchen & Wetbar in downtown, Vancouver. Attendees included Capilano University students, graduates, faculty, CAPUMA Alumni, and Capilano University President, Paul Dangerfield.

The event highlighted a panel discussion from three CAPUMA Alumni, Rochelle LeBlanc, Cheyenne Kuckein, and Jono Danieli, discussing their insights and advice around the transition from post-secondary education to the work force.
