Largely unrecognized during his lifetime, Blake is now considered a seminal figure in the history of the poetry and visual arts of the Romantic Age.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 584px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i.pinimg.com\/originals\/34\/4f\/2f\/344f2fe0fcd9013d4ede0df5498cca28.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"743\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Self Portrait by William Blake<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Most of Blake&#8217;s works have very unusual stories behind them which is one of the reasons he got rejected by the society during his lifetime. For example, in this piece called &#8220;The House of Death&#8221;, he illustrates lines from Book XI of John Milton&#8217;s poem Paradise Lost.\u00a0The Archangel Michael shows Adam the misery that will be inflicted on Man now he has eaten the Forbidden Fruit. In a vision of &#8216;Death&#8217;s &#8216;grim Cave&#8217; Adam sees a &#8216;monstrous crew&#8217; of men afflicted by &#8216;Diseases dire&#8217;.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 1536px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tate.org.uk\/art\/images\/work\/N\/N05\/N05060_10.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1536\" height=\"1228\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">The House of Death<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>I, personally, really like this kind of paintings because they make me see a different perspective on famous stories and the world around me.
