He additionally became known as a race-car designer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.illustrationhistory.org\/images\/made\/images\/uploads\/photo-CobyWhitmore_580_385_c1.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><figcaption>Coby Whitmore<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Born in Dayton, Ohio, he studied at the Dayton Art Institute and honed his skills as an apprentice to illustrator&nbsp;Haddon Sundblom&nbsp;in Chicago before joining the Charles E. Cooper Studio in New York.
