She is a frequent contributor to magazines and newspapers, especially\u00a0<em>The New York Times<\/em>, and has illustrated an extraordinary series of book covers, many of them featuring powerful and graceful portraits. Flesher works is a wide variety of styles, using charcoal, inks, paint, and collage. In addition to her elegant illustration work, Flesher has created an eye-popping collection of psychedelic personal art that is astonishing in its\u00a0layered graphics sophistication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static1.squarespace.com\/static\/558c692be4b06713b8f0e09c\/5596eea6e4b049903890592a\/57d04b14725e2551ed3a7a29\/1473268602734\/Maxss.jpg?format=1500w\" alt=\"\" \/><figcaption>Poster<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I\u2019d always appreciated the psychedelic-inspired photos\u00a0Richard Avedon took of the\u00a0<strong>Beatles<\/strong>, and they became the inspiration for some work I did combining my photography and the computer. I sent samples to three art directors I thought might use them, but only one responded:\u00a0<strong>Kelly Doe<\/strong>\u00a0of\u00a0<em>The New York Times<\/em>. She was working on a personal project\u2014a show mounted by the Japanese government.\u00a0Kelly has often given me the chance to do experimental projects. She can see where I might take something even though I have little in my portfolio to prove it.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static1.squarespace.com\/static\/558c692be4b06713b8f0e09c\/5596eea6e4b049903890592a\/5596efd3e4b00f5f813c0f47\/1435955749210\/1c.jpg?format=1500w\" alt=\"\" \/><figcaption><strong>Japan!<\/strong>The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Vivienne does not believe in &#8220;staying current&#8221;. In on of her interviews she said that trying to stay current seems futile, like having plastic surgery to stay young\u2014it never looks natural. We can\u2019t help but be products of our time.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static1.squarespace.com\/static\/558c692be4b06713b8f0e09c\/5596eea6e4b049903890592a\/5596f4d8e4b059fd6c6159a4\/1435956505842\/newyear.jpg?format=1500w\" alt=\"\" \/><figcaption><strong>New Year<\/strong>N Y Times<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>She uses a lot of vibrant colours in her work which is what attracts me the most. Although the works might seem like ordinary psychedelic posters, to me, they look way more clean and organized than the ones from the 60s.
