My second year as a Capilano LBSA student has held many insightful moments. I have learned more about myself as a student, a writer, a reader, a researcher, a working adult and even as a friend.<\/p>\n
As someone who puts high value on solitude, there has been a learning curve\u00a0in discovering\u00a0 how to effectively balance the social demands of school life with employment, other outside commitments and personal relationships. The way I normally prioritize had led me to seek refuge in reading, which caused me to neglect both my schoolwork and friendships. With the quality of both starting to lag, I knew I needed use executive control in order to prioritize and motivate myself.<\/p>\n
The practice hasn’t resulted in instantaneous results, but to use that tired cliche: nothing worth having comes easy and from past experience I know that it holds true when it comes to my resolve to follow through.<\/p>\n
I have enjoyed the classes I’ve taken so far at Capilano and while creative writing and English are my first loves, the history and geography courses I’ve taken have encouraged me to continue doing so in the following years of my degree. The Liberal Studies program has been rewarding in creating a well-rounded education and towards my\u00a0objectives to teach as it has allowed to take an eclectic range of courses<\/p>\n
