Yellow represented the female figure- gentle and merry, while blue represented the male form- spiritual and severe. Red was brutal and heavy and was used to contrast the other two colours. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Marc founded the Der Blaue Reiter (The Blue Rider) which was a group of German Expressionist artists. When he was drafted into the army, Marc utilized his painting skills to paint on tarps to hide artillery from fighter planes. He painted pointillist designs in the style of \u201cManet to Kandinsky\u201d. Unfortunately, he did not survive the war. At the age of 36, he was struck down by a shell and was killed instantly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.americanchimera.com\/2015\/04\/normal-0-false-false-false-en-us-x-none\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/michelleviet\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9739\/2019\/11\/GerArtilleryCamo-2-1024x789.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-312\" width=\"446\" height=\"342\" \/><\/a><figcaption>Although there are no images of  Marc&#8217;s camouflage work, this image is what his camouflage paintings would have looked like.  He painted these in the styles of artists such as \u00c9douard Manet and William Kandinsky.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>I chose Franz Marc because I randomly put his name into Google from the list of artists and immediately recognized his art even though I have never heard of his name before. His abstract animal paintings are truly unique and unforgettable. His subjects are dynamic and always seem to be moving within the painting due to the bright and loud colours and blocky shapes.
