Frida Kahlo<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Frida Kahlo is a famous Mexican painter, born July 6, 1907. Frida is often referred to as a surrealist and was known for her paintings of self portraits. She dealt with themes like self-identity, body image and death. She was originally interested in the sciences, but after getting into a serious bus accident she spent a lot of time studying the old masters and practicing a lot of drawing. Frida later ended up moving to America with her husband Rivera, where she experienced a few miscarriage’s and went on to produce some of her most famous work out of this tragedy including “In Henry Ford Hospital” and “My Birth”. She ended up returning with her husband to Mexico where her and her husband soon got divorced causing Frida to produce some of her most famous works once again, including “The Two Fridas.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She then went on to teach at La Esmeralda, the Education Ministry\u2019s School of Fine Arts. Frida struggled with alcohol and drugs at this time and later was under quite heavy medical assistance near the end of her life. She produced the painting “Self-Portrait with Portrait of Dr. Farill” which was a painting of her in a wheel chair. She died a year later from Pulmonary Embolism. I really love Frida Kahlos work, I think it tells the story of her life in such a dark yet beautiful way. She had quite the life full of tragedy and its fascinating to be shown creatively through her eyes how she interpreted these dark tragedies in her life, I find all her work and her in general to be extremely intriguing .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
