[1] It is a foundational work of the neo-impressionist style and a famous example of pointillist technique, produced on a big canvas. Isolated humans, with their garments strewn sculpturally on the riverside, are depicted in a formal pattern with trees, austere boundary walls and buildings, and the River Seine. As a reaction, the artist created three nude portraits of the same woman in various stances. Part of Seurat&#8217;s 1884-1886 painting A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte may be seen in the left background. Models is notable for its pointillist style as well as the political implications of its representation of a naked female figure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p>I admire his art; it&#8217;s not a style of painting I&#8217;d like to work in, but he&#8217;s the finest impressionist painter, and his work is somehow interesting.
