{"id":202,"date":"2021-11-23T18:18:28","date_gmt":"2021-11-23T18:18:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/nargeshashempour\/?p=202"},"modified":"2021-11-23T18:18:34","modified_gmt":"2021-11-23T18:18:34","slug":"oskar-kokoschka","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/nargeshashempour\/2021\/11\/23\/oskar-kokoschka\/","title":{"rendered":"Oskar Kokoschka"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Oskar Kokoschka was indeed an Austrian painter, poet, writer, and teacher who is most known for his powerful expressionistic portraiture and landscapes, as well as his vision concepts that inspired the Viennese Expressionist movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Education<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>After being intrigued by some of Kokoschka&#8217;s drawings, one of his instructors advised that he pursue a career in the fine arts. Kokoschka applied to the Kunstgewerbeschule in Vienna, which is now the University of Applied Arts Vienna, against his father&#8217;s wishes. He was one of the few applicants to be approved for a scholarship. The Vienna Kunstgewerbeschule was a forward-thinking applied arts school that specialised in architecture, furniture, crafts, and contemporary design. I dislike these two pieces of his work in particular; while &#8220;Veronica&#8217;s Veil&#8221; is fascinating and has some significance, and the media utilised are not dull, the nude guy with his back turned is meaningless to me, and the drawing is unsymmetrical and uninteresting.
