Edouard Vuillard is a member of the Nabi\u2019s group of painters as all, a painter, printmaker, as well as a decorator. He was mainly known for his unique intimate interior designs in his paintings. He studied art form 1886 to 1888 at the \u201cAcad\u00e9mie Julian\u201d in paris. After this he went on to join a group of painters alongside his friends that ended up calling the group the \u201cNabis\u201d. Their trademark in their paintings was using colour in a more symbolic sense rather than a realistic natural approach. This then lead them to be inspired by simplified shapes. He often filled his paintings with decorative wallpaper and compacted it with various items. This is demonstrated with his painting \u201cWoman Sweeping<\/em>\u201d (1899\u20131900). Due to his fascination in interior decoration Vuillard was labelled as an Intimists.This painting also consisted of the same colour palette creating a warm homely atmosphere for the audience<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Public Gardens is a series of nine paintings. This mainly demonstrated his mature kind of work. This was commissioned to be displayed in Alexandre Natansons mansion in the Avenue du Bois, in Paris. Alexandre had 3 girls so the subjects in the public gardens (a woman and small children) were perfect for his home. Each painting delivered its own title but they all incorporate green, blues beige, and various little pieces of red.  Demonstrating almost a farmland landscape. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oil Lamp was one of many still-lifes Vuillard created. This painting in particular was created right to record important events he has through his day, and was also created after he got his apartment in the Rue de Miromesnil<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Vuillards painting \u201cDinner time\u201d he painted himself with his grandmother, mother and his sister. The painting represents human solidarity as well as communication and relationships. Each member owns their separate space which symbolizes individuality in a room filled with people alike. The painting has more vibrant colours in a foreground versus the background. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally we have \u201cthe suitor\u201d which was painted in the very late 1800s. This painting definitely varies from the others mentioned, and is trying to demonstrate a quiet mood as the subjects in the painting seem to be sewing.
