David Hockney is an English artist that works in a variety of mediums such as painting, printmaking and photography. He is also a draftsman and a stage designer. He was born in 1937 in Bradford England. He is still alive today at the age of 83. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hockney studied at both Bradford College of Art and the Royal College of Art. He traveled frequently to teach at different universities before moving to Los Angeles at the age of 41. His work is considered autobiographical and consists of portraits, his friends, and his living space. He has also worked on still life, photography, and landscapes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Hockney has had several past exhibitions, but he has two current exhibitions David Hockney: Ma Normandie (Paris) and David Hockney: Drawing from Life (New York). He has created illustrations for \u201cSix Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm\u201d (1970) and\u00a0\u201cThe Blue Guitar\u201d (1977). Hockney has several books some of them being Hockney by Hockney\u00a0(1976),\u00a0Paper Pools\u00a0(1980) and\u00a0David Hockney Photographs\u00a0(1982).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I enjoy David Hockney\u2019s bright colours and his paintings of trees. They somewhat remind me of when I lived in Kelowna for a short time when I was younger. One of the few things I remember from that time is that I\u2019d go to orchards a lot to pick fruit and we had a backyard with a fruit tree in it. So seeing his paintings with trees makes me a bit nostalgic for some reason.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
