{"id":324,"date":"2018-03-23T18:34:28","date_gmt":"2018-03-23T18:34:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/sharleenramos\/?p=324"},"modified":"2018-03-23T18:34:28","modified_gmt":"2018-03-23T18:34:28","slug":"rough-character-sketches","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/sharleenramos\/2018\/03\/23\/rough-character-sketches\/","title":{"rendered":"Rough Character Sketches"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some rough sketches on characters, trying to see how detailed I would go.\u00a0 Because the story is dark, I didn&#8217;t want to make things too cartoony but also there are many characters to sketch out.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve decided to make the side characters less detailed, maybe no faces and only detail the grandma and misfit at the end scene\/close up when they have their realizations.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll look at some comic character examples, pick from there and then start drafting up the panels better.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Mood<\/strong> \u2013 dark, sinister, quirky (grandma), disjointed<\/li>\n<li><strong>Main character<\/strong> \u2013 in third person, focus is on Grandma and her character\u2019s ideals in everyone and a good man and ideal lady.\u00a0 She passes judgement and acts morally superior to what she perceives as a lack of good judgement in world.\u00a0 Racist, judgmental, shallow, materialistic.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Other characters \u2013 <\/strong>kids are \u201cawful\u201d, disrespectful, manipulative, self-centered.\u00a0 Parents seem \u201cnon existent\u201d, especially the mother.\u00a0 Bailey tries to take charge but follows his mother.\u00a0 Misfit takes pleasure in meanness but realizes there is no pleasure in it.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Message:<\/strong> Everybody\u2019s guilty of something, we all have sinned.\u00a0 Her moral superiority shows in her interactions but her crisis and \u201ctricks\u201d in her actions leading family to danger.\u00a0 The main Misfit\u2019s moral code is consistent but hers is not.\u00a0 When she pleads for her life, she uses lady card but when a gun is pointed to her head, she sees is flawed like everyone else.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-384 \" src=\"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/sharleenramos\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/661\/2018\/03\/File_003-1-e1521829451862.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"305\" height=\"400\" \/> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-394 \" src=\"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/sharleenramos\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/661\/2018\/03\/File_004-1-e1521829493724.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"297\" height=\"405\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-374 \" src=\"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/sharleenramos\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/661\/2018\/03\/File_002-1-e1521829434431.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"313\" height=\"472\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-354 \" src=\"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/sharleenramos\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/661\/2018\/03\/File_000-e1521829393316.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"310\" height=\"416\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-364 \" src=\"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/sharleenramos\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/661\/2018\/03\/File_001-1-e1521829412601.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"320\" height=\"406\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some rough sketches on characters, trying to see how detailed I would go.\u00a0 Because the story is dark, I didn&#8217;t want to make things too cartoony but also there are many characters to sketch out.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve decided to make the&#8230;
