He was acknowledged as an important painter of the German romantic movement. His style is very dramatic and occasionally includes people. His works are more spiritualistic and contrasts the material world during an era where everyone had become too disillusioned to a material world.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"463\" src=\"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/terencezhu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9750\/2019\/10\/Riesengebirge-1835.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-183\" srcset=\"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/terencezhu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9750\/2019\/10\/Riesengebirge-1835.jpg 600w, https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/terencezhu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9750\/2019\/10\/Riesengebirge-1835-300x232.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption><em> \u201cmaturity\u201d(1808) <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background has-cyan-bluish-gray-background-color\">&nbsp;As we begin a deep dive of his works we see how his first important painting was \u201cmaturity\u201d(1808). It was met with quite some controversy as his use of landscapes instead of people for symbolism was unique and unnatural. Compared to one of his last pieces with a strong death symbol \u201cOwl upon the Grave Marker\u201d(1836-37). This piece was avoided for its strong symbols and not really noticed as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"486\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/terencezhu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9750\/2019\/10\/Owl-On-A-Grave.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-184\" srcset=\"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/terencezhu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9750\/2019\/10\/Owl-On-A-Grave.jpg 486w, https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/terencezhu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9750\/2019\/10\/Owl-On-A-Grave-243x300.jpg 243w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 486px) 100vw, 486px\" \/><figcaption><em> \u201cOwl upon the Grave Marker\u201d(1836-37) <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background has-cyan-bluish-gray-background-color\">&nbsp;The painting that got Caspar into the view of international buyers was \u201cThe Monk by the Sea\u201d(1808-10). It was a minimalist masterpiece and caused many people to reevaluate themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"421\" src=\"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/terencezhu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9750\/2019\/10\/Monk-By-The-Sea-1809.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-185\" srcset=\"https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/terencezhu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9750\/2019\/10\/Monk-By-The-Sea-1809.jpg 600w, https:\/\/eportfolios.capilanou.ca\/terencezhu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9750\/2019\/10\/Monk-By-The-Sea-1809-300x211.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption><em> \u201cThe Monk by the Sea\u201d(1808-10) <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background has-cyan-bluish-gray-background-color\">&nbsp;One of the last paintings Friedrich made was \u201cThe Stages of Life\u201d(1835) before having multiple strokes that left him barely capable of doing art.
