First Nations Animal Symbols
The Heron is an animal I feel like I resonate the most with. They are known as “The Helpers” because they helped other animals catch food they couldn’t after the great flood. I find great pleasure in helping others and supporting them in their daily lives so that is why I think the Heron represents me the best.
The Orca is considered “The Lord of the Ocean”. Respected by all sea creatures, It symbolizes wealth and a long prosperous life.
The Otter’s fur was extremely valued and was often worn by first nation chiefs. The Otter symbolizes sociability, a kind heart and good intent.
Highly respected in the Pacific Coast, the salmon are a symbol of good luck and prosperity. Every four years, Salmon tend to return to the river they were born in.
Wolves are often associated with spiritual powers by the First Nations people. They represent family unity as well as spirituality.
