Carl Brett (1928-2009) was an Irish typographer and designer. Having completed his education in Ireland, he then relocated to Canada in 1954. He started working in an Advertising firm called Vickers and Benson. Many companies hired him to design creative typography for them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After establishing himself in the trade, Brett set out to start his own company called Carl Brett Design and worked with many prominent clients such as Canada Post, Hume Publishing, and Bata Shoes Company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was active in the design scene in Canada, being a part of the Typographic Designers of Canada and teaching at Universities. He even served as the president of the Typographic Designers of Canada, now the Society of Graphic Designers of Canada. His work with type is playful, bold, and fun which made his work stand out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His work is on the Canada Modern website, a physical and digital archive of Canadian graphic design. He passed away in 2009 leaving a legacy for designers; to stretch themselves and set new, higher standards for work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
