Paolo Veronese, real name Paolo Caliari, was an artist who was born in Venice in 1528. He is acknowledged for his compositions and amazing sense of colour in his paintings and his mastery in fresco paintings. His most famous works depict large-scale religious feast scenes, for example “The Wedding Feast at Cana” and “The Feast in the House of Levi”.
He was one of the leading painters of 16th century and was recognized for his talent, taking on many important commissions. He influenced many great artists such as Sebastiano Ricci and Giovanni Battista Tiepolo.
I very much enjoy Veronese’s work. As said before, he has a great sense of colour and the compositional component is always present. His storytelling and detail are inspiring as an artist.
