Robert Wesley Wilson, known as Wes Wilson, is an American artist from Sacramento, California born in July 15, 1937. He’s known for his 60s rock concert poster and was also one of the fathers of the psychedelic poster movement. His style is very distinctive and it is one of the first styles that pop into one’s head when someone says psychedelic. This is especially because he created and popularized the iconic psychedelic font. His pieces are very type heavy. The type is warped in a curvy way to fit around the central image (if there is one). There is no space is to be left empty and alone in his work. His pieces are also very colourful. There is a great use of bright contrasting colours that work together in a way that is striking and memorable. It really does looks like what you’d imagine hippie art to look like.
