Yearbook Spread
For my yearbook spread I chose to use watercolour and pen. Watercolour is by far my favourite medium to work in and therefore seemed fitting for a self-portrait. My spread consists almost entirely of different shades of blue and purple, which are the two colours I most enjoy painting in. Furthermore, In the cut-out of myself I’ve included the heads (or tops of the heads) of three cats; Specifically I’m referencing my three cats Rooi, Telulah, and Cinder. As I am a big cat lover, I had to include some (at the very least) subtle homage. Moving to the background detail, the loose splotches of paint behind my self-portrait play into my easygoing, playful nature, and hint at my love for pattern.
